Notes from Erin is your literary soundtrack, a weekly newsletter at the intersection of books and music.
In every edition, you’ll find insights on books and music, curated playlists, author interviews, personal essays, and cultural commentary, all rooted in the belief that the right song can make a great book feel like an experience.
Who am I?
I’m Erin, a Bay Area native now living in Maryland. As an only child, books and music were my constants. Some of my earliest memories are trips to the library with my mom and concerts with my dad, including seeing Cameo at Kimball’s East when I was six years old. Make of that what you will.
That love for both forms grew into something more: I spent years writing about music for publications like Wax Poetics, Okayplayer, Respect Magazine, and Frank151, and ran a blog called Beats & Reads. These days, Notes from Erin is where I bring it all together, the recommendations I’ve always been giving friends, now in one place, with a little more intention behind them.
What to expect:
Book + Album Pairings — what to read, what to listen to, and why they belong together
Interviews with authors, musicians, and fellow book and music lovers, including the music and books they can’t stop recommending
Personal essays grounded in specific reads and listens
Cultural commentary on creativity, taste, and the overlap between literary and music culture
Curated playlists to accompany your reading
